The trick is that Tokyo Drift (made in 2006) is actually set after Fast & Furious 6 in story time so watching by release date puts a jarring gap in the middle of the narrative. For the best storytelling experience, follow the chronological order below.
Fast & Furious Movies in Chronological Order

#8 - The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)
Starring: Lucas Black, Zachery Ty Bryan, Bow Wow, Brian Tee
Despite being released in 2006, this film is set after the events of Fast & Furious 6 in the story's timeline which is why it belongs here. American teenager Sean Boswell is shipped to Tokyo after one street race too many, where he discovers the art of drifting.
Why is Tokyo Drift out of order?
The film's timeline was officially reconciled when Han a character who "dies" in Tokyo Drift appears alive and well in Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, confirming those films take place before Tokyo Drift.
#9 - Furious 7 (2015)
Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez
The franchise's emotional peak. After defeating Owen Shaw, the crew faces his vengeful brother Deckard while the film also serves as a moving farewell to Paul Walker. Brings the Tokyo Drift storyline to a close. Don't skip the ending.
#10 - The Fate of the Furious (2017)

With Dom and Letty finally married, a mysterious cyber-terrorist named Cipher manipulates Dom into betraying his own family. The first film without Paul Walker, and the start of a new chapter for the franchise.
